As the title says: shrinking dope required.
Seeing as I’m only restoring static aeroplanes yet still need to accurately reconstruct the parts and fabric covering I need a source of this precious liquid which won’t break the bank. New stuff is just too expensive.
Unlike the flying variety the stuff I need doesn’t need quadruplicate paperwork and certificate(s) of compliance with this and that. It must, however, do the job adequately. Can anybody suggest either a cheap source or, someone who may have a quantity of old stuff for sale which may have been lying around for a while (out of date?).
I need around 2-3 gallons of clear.
TIA, Anon.

Available online at http://www.siebert.aero/products/Katalog/Flugzeugbau-ausrstung/Flugzeugbau-und-reparatur/Lacke-Farben-Harze-Leim/IRSA-Spannlack-10-l.html
Not for Ceconite though, just good old fashioned clear fabric dope.

Clear stuff is Nitrate Dope. Used a lot more with Ceconite and other fabrics . Much higher demand .

I don’t know if these guys are any help, had the odd aircraft part off them in the past.

Thanks for the info, Bruce.
I got a job-lot off them last summer for a very reasonable sum but it’s all coloured. Not sure if the clear stuff has a much longer shelf life due to zero pigment, which might account for there being none available as it all gets used up.

Worth asking Light Aero if they have any time ex – I occasionally get time ex chemical paraphernalia from them, and there is nothing wrong with it.
Otherwise, it might be worth a phone round some people who do fabric, and see if they have any expired stuff.
I’ve got about 20l of red, but that’s all.
