What's worth seeing around Mablethorpe/Lincs

Hello thought it worth posting on here before we go on holiday there in the next few days. Any suggestions gratefully received, many thanks in advance.:)

Strubby is featured in the booklet that is linked in post #3 – my understanding is that the watch room conversion is to a private residence, so please respect their privacy.

Later this month I understand that a new memorial is being dedicated at this former-airfield location and that they may have two Lancaster performing a flypast.

Doesn’t surprise me having seen how well protected ammunition is when it arrives. We had plenty of exercise just getting some of the boxes open on range days. I recall 7.62 coming in cardboard boxes inside thick foil inside metal boxes inside wooden boxes. 😀 We were under the impression it was more intended to clutter up the ammunition store than for us to use.

Thanks fellows, that’s given me some pointers and it looks like Metheringham will hopefully be on the agenda. Relightflynn9 if I make it should I bring some stuff for the BBQ? Thanks again.

No need, as long as it’s not a coach full!
We have a vintage car club coming so we are catering for plenty anyway.
The fun starts early afternoon with the engine / taxy run about 2-3pm

I guess coming over from Herefordshire you might be passing this place (close to A1, A17 & A46) – open 7 days a week throughout the year! 😉

Not historic but worth keeping your eyes and ears open as Donna Nook range is not far up the road from Mablethorpe. On our two visits to the area last year we saw a decent amount of modern stuff entering and using the range.

We are having our annual XS186 BBQ next Sunday at Metheringham, it tends to be whoever turns up gets fed, and we have an engine / taxy run in the afternoon, our most challenging manoeuvring to date, should be good.

If you open (or save to file) the following link, you get to a PDF file of an East Lindsey Aviation Trail booklet:

I understand that the aviation memorials leaflet mentioned in there is also being worked on at the present time! 😉

East Kirkby and / or Methringham would be on my list.
