MK IV Autopilot Control Measurements "Or Parts" Required

I am about to start making a CAD drawing of the autopilot control panel for the Bristol Bombay, unfortunately the original drawing seems to be missing, so I am using a GA & some other relevant drawings etc to re-draw it. I need to either acquire original control levers etc, or obtain some data on them to help me.

Ideally I would like to buy the MK IV autopilot control parts if anyone should have some spare to their own needs. Alternatively could some kind soul please tell me the sizes & possitions for the centres of the mounting screw holes of these parts ?.

The parts I need/require info for are-

CONTROL C0CK 6H/301.
STEERING LEVER 6H/603.
SPEED LEVER 6H/602.
ATTITUDE CONTROL 6H/356.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Hindenburg

I would appreciate it if you could measure up the diameter and position of the 3 mounting holes if you get a chance :eagerness:.

The Bombay seems to have been fitted with 3 servo’s- 2 x 6H/1030 & 1 x 6H/1031, not sure if the Stirling would have had the same though.

Funnily enough, I’ve been working on the Autopilot control panel mock up drawing today and only need these dimensions to finish it. As I am having to use the 1/2 scale GA as the basis, along with dimensions taken off of various auto controls etc, the aim will be to make a basic panel mock up in ply and hopefully have a go at making something better when (IF) more info becomes available.

Many thanks.

STEERING LEVER 6H/603.
three holes in inverted triangle, top ones 77.8mm apart and lower one centred 29.8mm below to suit 2BA
Note this was measured off a re-casting so will be slightly on the small side

Smirky

Thank you for the info on the attitude control. There doesn’t seem to be a mounting bracket for the steering lever, both it & the speed lever are mounted together onto the autopilot control panel.

Paul
Thank you for the offer, but I don’t know if the mounting screw possitions etc would be the same as on the MK IV.

Cheer’s.

I have some parts for a Mk IX autopilot, not sure how similar they are but can take measurements if it’s of any use to you.

STEERING LEVER 6H/603.
Does this have a bracket like the Lancaster or do you want the three holes on the casting? I have both parts but they are reproductions so measurements might be a bit out.

ATTITUDE CONTROL 6H/356. holes are on grid 3.1″ square and suit 4 BA
