]Interesting (sorry) Can anyone identify the usage of this strongly marked piece of ‘war booty’ just uncovered in a bottom draw?

It is a compass box… but one made post-war for tourists, and purporting to be a genuine Reich artifact.
The first thing that stands out as suspect is the engraving: “Alles für Deutschand” instead of “Alles für Deutschland.”
If there is a compass inside; the other mistake is that it should have an “O” (Ost) instead of an “E” at the Easterly cardinal point. They also have the swastika reversed in the Reichsadler wreath engraving.
These occasionally appear on e-plonker for unsuspecting collectors to go bonkers over.
Nice talking piece, but as duff as a nine-bob note!

Combined paperweight and stamp-wetting sponge (whatever that’s called) for der Fuhrer’s desk?
Anon.
