Early RN Phantom Marking Clarification Sought

I am just proofing the artwork for my latest decal release which features early UK Phantoms.

I think I am pretty much there with the corrections that need sorting before I send to the printers. I have one marking which I am not sure about and need clarification on. Was the diamond that the spook sits in on the fin red in colour or day-glo ?

A link below showing the marking I am trying to clarify.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Might be the angle or the lighting on that particular day but I agree, it looks lighter on here however my gut says it’s probably the same shade… Colours have always been an issue on discussions here 🙁

Indeed it is. I remember the long debate about Day-Glo on Sea Princes and the tonal variations in photographs.

Looks day glow to me too. I’d imagine the stick on day glow sheeting was easily available and the perfect thing for making up zaps from

It appears a little bit ‘redder’ than this fin marking, which I take to be day-glo:

My gut reaction from the photograph is Day-glo but would like to sure before committing. So that’s three of us thinking the same.

Good suggestion re Lee. Will drop him a message now.

Many thanks to you both for your input.

Lee Howard would be your guy to confirm this although it does look day-glow orange… He is on here and is all things Royal Navy!

Looking at the red in the roundel I would go with dayglo
