Rhodesian Harvard IIs

I’m doing some research into the Harvards flown by SFTS trainees, mostly at Cranborne (20 SFTS). From some of the photographs that I’ve seen, many Harvards have the letters NC stencilled on the rear fuselage above the serial number, enclosed within a triangle. Does anybody have any idea what the significance of these letters may be?
