As part of Armed Forces Day, the Avro Vulcan performed a display at the South Bay in Scarborough. It was the first time I’d seen a Vulcan since the Finningley Air Show. Here’s the video I made:

We were on holiday in Whitby week before last–a week or two too early 🙂

Thanks for the comments. I was pleased to be able to see the display, earlier in the week the weather forecasts had been bad and I thought I might end up missing it but on the day it turned out well. I filmed the video from Scarborough Castle – probably the best vantage point for seeing the flying displays. We also had the BBMF but I missed that one as I was still on my way to Scarborough Castle when they flew past. I hope the Vulcan displays again next year, I’d forgotten how great those engines sound, and how brilliant it is to see flying. It also did a short display at Filey before arriving, and then flew off in the direction of Whitby.

Thanks for posting the video! Reminds me of the one and only time I saw a Vulcan in flight: a low level display at Transpo ’72 at Dulles Airport in 1972. I was amazed that such a big plane could be so agile. It confirmed my love of deltas.

They were kind enough to pass over Elvington too. 😎
