Used all the time on helicopters which have retractable gear.
Guess that’s where they got the idea – it hovers, doesn’t it?

A gentle touchdown would have been much more dangerous in a harrier,I thought he played it extremely well !
A VL in a harrier is normally a ‘positive’ and ‘firm’ landing – a gentle landing is not the aim !
