They’ve had to evacuate an area down the road from me because they reckon they’ve found an unexploded WW2 bomb.

Suspect item described as “Victorian preesure vessel” now – link to article below with photos – From these the EOD identification looks unlikely – Anything Victorian more than likely to be rivited and this looks welded construction – perhaps they trying to imply age as its rusty! – Looks uncannily like an old LPG gas cylinder to me – not the first time one of these has caused panic recently!
South Wales Argus – Device found at Maesglas store in Newport is ‘not a bomb’
Still – surprised they missed the opportunity to blow a bit of Wales up! 😀

well, turns out it’s a false alarm http://www.gwent.police.uk/nc/news/article/article/update-maesglas-retail-park/
how disappointing, I mean hooray everyone’s safe, but bit of an anticlimax :p
Was hoping for a scenario like the Christmas special of Call The Midwife, where they have to get the old army bomb disposal expert in to defuse the bomb, and he accidentally sets off the detonator timer and everyone runs for cover and it goes off , but the blast isn’t as big as they estimated and everyone blows a breath of relief and has a nice cup of tea

Great Stuff. Now lets see The Crabtree. Clock stopper. Liquid discharger. Oh and liquid oxygen. May need to steam out the explosives. I’m on my way. :eagerness:

Phew I was worried, then I realised it’s only Wales they’re going to blow a bit of up :p

It’s “Explosive Ordnance Disposal” in the US, as well.
