The last of the Gladiator veterans of 9th of April 1940 has died

I was given the sad news today that Gladiator and Halifax veteran Per Waaler passed away some time today.

I met him in person in 2011. He had the memory of a 18 year old and told me several great stories from his time during WWII. He volunteered for Bomber Command because he felt he could do more there than being with a fighter squadron. Some choice. A choice that nearly killed him as he was shot down on his first sortie. What a guy. One of the bravest souls have passed on.
