Hello folks,
There is a small area of the museum dedicated to this rather wonderful firm who certainly had some eccentric aircraft designs during the Great War – we have some Sage items on display but are keen to enhance the display – if anyone has anything to share that would be great – also recommended reading Plane to Plane – by Martin Chorlton – an excellent read…

We have a number of Avro 504 bits on display and a small Sage aux prop – and may have a lead on a full size prop too…. whats out there Sage wise (G-ASEA is bound to have something!)

I shall certainly try to get to see you sometime I am in the area. I was in the Peterborough ATC and we used to have parades at “Wing” at Sywell. A fellow cadet did his PPL there on the Tiger Moths, while I was sent off to Marshalls for the same exercise! I still have some photos of that time.

I have Martin Chorlton’s book. I agree, an excellent read. It was quite a surprise to me to discover more about the activities of Sage’s factory in Peterborough, past which I used to cycle, living not far from it. I think the last vestige, the factory tower, was preserved, and I believe “Sage’s Lane” is still so named.
PS: I found an image of the factory and water tower on http://www.peterboroughimages.co.uk/blog/?cat=191&paged=2 (9th image down)
