Err, yes but I don´t think that “World Cup Winners 2014” would be a good idea for a commemorative scheme for the Luftwaffe regarding the D-Day. If there´s any…

Of course ,
but they aren´t shure how to paint the vertical stabilizer.

If you mean the Germans, I would suggest ‘World Cup Winners 2014’. They had a Phantom at Waddington Air Show bearing a similar message a few years back, unfortunately by the Sunday afternoon they had a guy up there with a brush and a pot of paint painting the message out! 🙂

I’m sure it’s already been repeated elsewhere-but I imagine there wouldn’t be much of a market for Sabres to offset the the fantastic cost of building them from scratch. Unless the finished product could be made sufficiently reliable to tempt the US air racing industry? *dreams of preposterous Sabre-engined P-51 screaming round the circuit at Reno*

Looking around the historic aviation scene, it seems the difficulties of building new airframe sections for old aircraft have been largely overcome, although there are lingering issues like availability of suitable types of alloy. Perhaps the real technical challenge for the future is the building of new “large” engines (I believe it has already been done for “small” units).

No -the stumbling block will always be the wing.

True, there is only one “known” wing, and that is fitted to the RAF Museums Tiffie, but a new one could be made. I would say the bigger stumbling block to preventing another Typhoon flying would be the lack of restorable Sabre engines.

Hi
And maybe the ‘small’ problem of the history of the tails falling off.

Hi,

I wonder if there is at least one “Old” Typhoon airframe who could be restored to flight status ?
I never saw or heard no information about a restoration project ?

Regards

I wonder if the Luftwaffe are going to put any commemorative schemes on their jets!
