I used to work on the base too and find myself once again living close by. Some buildings have been demolished and houses being built but these are Southof Camp Road and included my old office.
There is a heritage centre being set up and have rescued various murals etc. They also do the odd tour too.https://www.facebook.com/rafuhhc?ref=ts&fref=ts

I worked there on the new crew bunkers back in 1980, was arrested twice for working late ! long story, may relay it here one day.

there is a very similar atmosphere when left to walk around the buildings at the former Rover factory in Longbridge!
