Spitfire flap lever/valve manufacturer

hi all i have this original spitfire flaps lever/valve, and am just wondering if it was a part supermarine made themselfs in-house. or if it was produced for them by dunlop etc or another company. it is stamped with supermarine 300 numbers, but other stamps i cant make out. any help would be appreciated. regards Sam.

Sam,

It means it was fitted from Mk 5 onwards. The same design was used right through to the Griffon variants.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks very much for your reply, I was just wondering as I have another very similar valve that works the same, but is made by Dunlop. As it has an “AH” number, but didn’t see one on my spitfire valve, just the 300 numbers. On the lever it is stamped 34959 would I be right in saying the first three digits means it could be from a mark 5 spitfire?

Sam,

They were made in house. That is a later one; the early ones had a squarer front section.

They do however have Dunlop AHO seals and the valve is a Dunlop item too.
