Big black thing part 3 (Not on a beach)

I saw this on the back of a trailer in Biddulph, Stoke On Trent today and stopped for a photo. Many thanks to Jerry and his tyre, and good luck with Mr Rusty!!.

Yes – talking technical – the ‘ole looks out of proportion to the tyre size !

‘looks’ in fair condition though !

Sorry Snafu, not Shackleton, although I wrongly leapt to the same answer initially. Gerard and I did a comparison of dimensions as well as numbers. The ‘ole in middle is 21″ unlike the Shacks 26″ (i think). Perhaps…..Stirling????

If any of you happen to see a grey Merc Sprinter van towing a nice trailer with Mr Rusty on it, heading towards the South East, wave, toot your horn, or even stop and have a chat with Gerard. He won’t bite.

Is that a Lancaster tyre or, a tyre that fits a Lancaster (which is not necessarily the same thing)?
If so what aircraft is it from?
