OK – this is going to be an incredible long-shot for anyone to answer, but…. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
I am trying to locate any information on a George Allward, who was an American, hailing from Maine who had been working for Sherman Fairchild in a number of his aviation companies, in particular working with Colonel Virginius E. ‘Ginny’ Clark (of Clark ‘Y’ aerofoil fame). Clark designed the Fairchild 100, Fairchild 150, and the Fairchild 46-A in conjunction with Allward who is recorded as being an aeronautical wood expert who had been trained in England.
Any additional information is going to be the very greatest of use, especially where he was trained and/or who he worked for here in the UK.
