Stuka attack, St Osyth/Clacton 1940

Guys, do any of you have any information regarding a stuka attack on St Osyth sometime in 1940? An old friend mentioned yesterday “1940 saw me billeted in St.Osyth. Survived my first Stuka attack safely behind walls local Martello tower!”

That was when he was on the receiving end – after a stint downing a Condor and winning the DFC with MSFU (and caterpillar and goldfish badges) he later flew ground attack on Typhoons with 609, meting out the same punishment before flak downed him and he went on the run in France (later being incarcerated in Buchenwald)

Anyway, I’d really appreciate any information you guys may have which I can pass on!

Cheers

Mark
