Broussard VH-HFA c/n 295

This aircraft has been acquired by the Queensland Air Museum and I am trying to piece together its history before it came to Australia. Sometime prior to 1995 it was registered F-GHUJ but I’ve not been able to find dates on/off the register or to whom it was registered and the Google Register isn’t helping!

Any information on this aeroplane will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to everyone who has responded. I have a couple of leads as a result.

Not quite. That’s only the case if you tick the ‘inscrit’ box alone. If you also tick the ‘radié’ box, the DGAC website will search for and, if it’s there, give details of all aircraft that are or have been on the CDN, CDNR and CNRA registers. What isn’t in the searchable database are the pre-war registers or the current départemental ULM registers.

My apologies, you are quite right. I have found a reference to the registration F-GHUJ being reserved by a mr. G. Bougarel in 1991. It would appear the aircraft however was never fully registered in the end?

Seems it wore the code ANV when flying with ALAT (Aviation legere de l’Armee de Terre) in 1961.

VH-AHA is not a Broussard. I presume you mean HFA, the only Broussard in Australia as far as I know?

Sorry, a typo – I’m afraid. Broussard c/n 295 is also attributed to F-GHUJ at http://www.mh-1521.fr/telechargement/que_sont_devenus_les_broussard.pdf. So the DGAC website information is something of a mystery!

P.s. I’ve now done so, with a nil response – so I wonder whether that registration is wrong.

Registration is right, but the database only shows up current registrations, and GHUJ was cancelled on sale to Australia.

Also: VH-AHA is not a Broussard. I presume you mean HFA, the only Broussard in Australia as far as I know?

Well, F-GHUJ is claimed as the former identity of VH-AHA (q.v. http://www.mh-1521.fr/index.php?part=19&cib=7&rub=94) but the DGAC doesn’t seem to recognise that. However neither does it recognise Broussard c/n 295 as being or having been on the CDN register. Maybe if you contact http://www.avionsdebrousse.org/, someone there can help. Additionally or alternatively, I can post your request for information on one of the French aviation history fora. Send me a PM if I can be of further help to you.

If you haven’t been there already, try starting your research by entering F-GHUJ at http://www.immat.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/immat/servlet/aeronef_liste.html;jsessionid=7553258D865D1006E30A7B7FC598AB38?CTRL_ID=344487_528c953f. However I’ve now done so, with a nil response – so I wonder whether that registration is wrong.
