Duxford Shackleton

I spent a couple of hours at Duxford last Thursday and was saddened to see the state of the Shackleton. She is parked outside on the flightline minus her outboard engines, wingtips, and fins.My last visit was last year and she was inside with just the wingtips missing.Does anybody know what the long term future is for this historic aircraft ?

To save hours of trolling last time I was there I was told the Shack is being dismantled to fit in hangar 5 where the Ambassador used to sit there she will be a long term restoration project but she will be inside, unfortunately the Victor won’t ever fit in any other hangar but air space so any restoration will have to happen there.

The shack is outside until the final bits from Lambeth have gone and they can have a shuffle about to start moving her inside, the rest of hangar 5 will be used for the AAM remake for next year.

Of course none of this is ‘official’ just what I was told by a trusted source who is mostly right on all things Duxford moves.

You could do worse than pick out the relevant comments from those with some knowledge in the Duxford Diary thread.
