Hurricane Gunsight Mount Identification

Can anyone identify the metal bracket that is attached to the Hurricane gunsight mount? What was its purpose and does anyone have a part number or a drawings for this part?

Thanks

That would be great. Let me see if I can get more pictures taken from RCAF 5447.

Well, today I was going thru my unidentified Hurricane stuff and found the main bracket for the dimmer seen in your pix. Do you have more pix of the unit when it was on the bench please?
The part number on the screen main bracket is A102391 with B77169 – it comes from a BoB shot down Hurri.

If I can get more pix, I’ll pop one together (for P3554) and make some drawings etc.

I have the drawing for the Hurricane gun sight mount. But the screen holder isn’t shown on the drawing.

The part/drawing no., for the Spitfire mount, is 30030 sheet 87G; there’s a hint, on it, that it was made up from various castings bolted together, so there might not be a separate no for the screen holder.

Quite possibly it held the (sliding) antiglare filter (think dark glasses.) A wire was usually fitted on one side, so that the pilot could slide it up or down at will, if he was trying to sight into the sun’s glare.
