Lucky Find! Weird Coincidence?!

My lady and I went to our favourite antique/collectors haunt in Berkshire today. We walked into one shop yard we don’t normally go to as they have nice stuff but not much we collect. Anyhoo, I remarked to her ‘I dream that one day I will find an aircraft wheel in this place’.

I had barely finished the sentance when I spotted this sack trolley with 2 Spitfire tail wheels on it!

Those that know me, know I have a penchant for tailwheels. I bought my first, a Hampden when I was 11. I have more than I care to say. My favs are those that have gone onto have peaceful means. I have a spit tailwheel on a wheel barrow in the museum. The sack trolley will be used to cart stuff around.

Delighted is not the half of it!!! My beloved bought them for me too! She said she never saw me move so fast.

Just be careful of the swing on take off……..you might also have to weave from side to side when you taxi……….

I think I’ll hold out for a sack truck with Sterling main wheels on it, there must be one out there somewhere….. Nice find BTW. It always amazes me how these things survive having been repurposed.

Nice find…I can remember seeing 4 twin contact tail wheels on a sight screen on a cricket pitch on Mitcham Common….

Nice find Tony. I remember the surprise of going into an antique centre in the middle of nowhere – and seeing Bristol Centaurus engine parts in a cabinet.
