I flew the Carstadt version when I started my career in 1974 with International Air Cargo out of Wash. DC. Flying freight up and down the East Coast.
I think they only made a couple of conversions.

A few were probably lost drugs running!
I don’t think they had the range, but possibly.
More likely they’re sitting in some dusty hangar or out in the weeds at a small airport.

There used to be lots of private/business Doves here. Last one I saw on a ramp was in Idaho, circa 1980. A very plane savvy friend commented that it reminded him of a Mosquito.
I wonder where they all went?

Which makes you wonder why de Havilland didn’t do something similar. When you consider how long the Beech King Air has lasted, the Dove with a couple of small turboprops might have lasted just as long.
