Hi all, I have recently acquired a small box of what look to be engine related tools (ex military). Special sockets, extractors, drifts etc.
Most carry the stores ref prefix 64DE, anyone tell what type thes relate to?
Also in the box is a neat little Salter spring balance 0- 8oz, ref number 64DE/41. A couple of the items stamped also AEWB.
Any info greatly appreciated.

Gnome is Westland Sea King all marks and Westland Wessex HC2, HAR2, HCC4 and HU5.

Yup, looks familiar, the spring balance could be used for anything for pull off or push torque settings, IGV mechanism stirs a distant brain cell in my memory but it’s all a long long time ago since I worked on Wessex or built up a Gnome.

I’m afraid I have to ask – is the Gnome helicopter engine for a small chopper?

The tool pictured is the special socket used to undo the bolt that holds the starter bullet fairing onto the front of the starter motor of a Gnome helicopter engine.

Many thanks for the info Dave.
If there are some good gnome tool jokes, please feel free I’m broad minded..just as well they were not Goblin!
Cheers, Chumpy.
