I have had a Dak (mostly) log book for a few years now, (RCAF log), to a guy who trained in Canada 44 into 45 then went to, 62-267-31-48 squadrons as Navigator out in Burma area SEAC? flying until March 1947 when his RAF flying ended.
Its a kind of on-going research ‘project’. I have copied out most of log into a folder so as not to ‘stress’ original log,
There are over 50 Dakota serials in book and I am always looking for new info on log / owner. 1590058 F Smith (luckily a rare surname!!!)
Although post ww11 there was all manner of unpleasantness in that area apparently, on occasion Japanese troops fighting alongside British troops against ‘rebel’ forces?
And some extremely hazardous flying conditions due to weather as well.
He also flew from certain airfields mentioned on a certain imfamous forum thread!!
One question, out of all the Dakotas, he has entered, only ONE has been named, this was, KN564 ‘BAMBI’ which he flew in, with 48 Squadron at Changi (actually delivering the aircraft from Kemajoran (Java?) when he moved from 31 Squadron. Are there any images of KN564 anywhere?

ericmunk Wow, would love to be able to read the serials in those images….
oldgit158 Had a good look through all squadrons but cannot see KN333, nearest KN’s I found were KN310, KN340, both with 48 Squadron.
Rest in, KJ, KK, as well as KN range. Apart from training in Canada, where he simply writes a three number serial, such as DAKOTA 557.

Thanks for reply, wonder if there are any images out there.
He does say in log, ” Posted to 31 squadron Batavia.”

Kemajoran used to be the airfield of Batavia (Dutch East Indies), now no longer extant. Batavia is today’s Jakarta (Indonesia).
KN564 ended up with the Zambian air force as AF-104.
