The street view is out of date but here you go 12degs 50 mins N, 100degs 54 mins E. It shows a Fairchild provider but that went ages ago and there have been several since .

This yard changes very often. They had HS748 HS-THH here for many years, and a G222 was here a while ago.
There were two Fantrainers in Jly13, one falsely marked D-EATP in a blue/white scheme, and another believed to have been c/n 033. I have no idea which one(s) are there at the moment, but one has appeared at Pattaya Sheep Farm, and two others at a yard in Nakhon Pathom (along with a C-47, Cessna 150, UH-1, Bird Dog and R-22). Not sure how many are still at Takhli (I checked the hangar there in sep07, but they have since been moved outside).
As to the four Chantras I list (6, 9, 10 & 11), all were confirmed in Nov13 from the RTAF serials painted on (they were still in their blue/white RTAF marks). The dataplate for a Chantra is in a similar place to the Chipmunk fuselage number plate, at the back of the rear cockpit. A typical example can be seen on the photo at this link http://www.thai-aviation.net/images/AirForceF/F17/Chantra_F17_03_17_03_RTAFM_dataplatea.jpg
Any confirmed data very welcome.

I’ve taken a quick look at the thai-aviation.net site listed above and I notice
Jomtien, ‘US Camping’ store
is listed as having 4 Chantras and two Fantrainer’s one un-reg and the other reg D-EATP, wasn’t the Fantrainer here first noted as D-EATP, and with that Chantra in US colours……

Hi Steve, I think AB and myself were referring the Fan Trainers in general becoming a ‘failure’
By: SteveDarke - 4th March 2014 at 11:22
Yes the wreck is a Chantra. Lots of Fantrainers around now that the Takhli store has been emptied. Another one near Jomtien at the Pattaya Sheep Farm!
All can be found on my website at www.thai-aviation.net.

Why did the Fan trainer turn out to be a bust?
Good question. Anyone got a sensible answer?

Thanks wl745. I believe the Thai Police had some Airtourers and I think one is on display at their HQ in Bangkok.
By: wl745 - 3rd March 2014 at 10:23
It would appear to be 100%military .The fan trainer has no engine in it but it could be one of several lying about .It is resting on its wheels.

I would love to see the paperwork needed to get the Fantrainer on the British register. Out of interest are there any Airtourer/Airtrainer bits in the scrapyard? Vested interest as I have an Airtourer here in the UK.

Want me to put a bid in for you!!

Are you not tempted to buy any of this?
Ditti. I’d grab that Fan-trainer asap ’cause it’s going to be a very rare plane in the near future.
