Harrier T4 – XW267

I’ve been out giving a talk this evening in South Notts and for the first time in several outings I wasn’t asked about ‘Spitfires in the jungle’ – result! 😮

However I was assured by a couple in the audience that within the last two weeks the Harrier T4, XW267 has been transported out of Chetwynd Barracks, Toton, Notts, on low loaders.

Out of curiosity has anyone heard about such a possible move; or assuming the details are correct, know where it may have gone?

Good eyes! Yeah as the Scotavia said, it’s with Everettaero which means it’s Bentwaters. Strange, I had no idea what they did over there even though I lived about 4 miles from the base. I then moved to Cambs where my garden fence touched the perimeter fence of Alconbury.

At a guess it is a former USAF base – the artwork on the HAS doors is for the 527th Aggressor Squadron that used to operate from RAF Alconbury and then Bentwaters – I’d hazard a guess that it is Bentwaters…

Yes it is Bentwaters Park.

Well I guess so!
I watched the video and had no idea where it was filmed and was 10x more interested in the setting/hardware than the track.
Once I saw the tail reg, I did a quick google and found only a couple of comments about her. I commented on FighterControl.co.uk where they were talking about her also – but nobody seemed to care… 🙁

I’ve no knowledge of the Harrier, but they’ve changed several of the features haven’t they?
From what I’ve spotted, the clearest thing is obviously the refuelling probe and the new nose.

There’s also a fin missing from the back of cockpit (could be the angle) and a small probe from the front of the cockpit.

Do these guys just smarten them up to sell on?

Yes they do. http://www.everettaero.com/

Said aircraft, now tidied up a bit by the looks of it and staring as backdrop in a music video….

Cheer for this post, otherwise I’d have struggled to work out where this was!

Thank you for the feedback Binbrook 01 – I obviously need to refine my late night search phrases!

Sad to see an airframe depart from the county, but on the bright side at least it wasn’t included in the latest aviation publication that will be going to the printers in the coming weeks!

Thanks Rob, if it’s the same ‘bird’ no guesses where it might be heading!

If no other information is forthcoming I may have to brave the chaos of the ‘Nottingham White Elephant’ (sorry tram works) and check out Chetwynd Barracks myself. (Just out of curiosity of course!!) 🙂

Not entirely sure if it was the same bird Howard, but sometime in the last week I spotted a Harrier wing (no fuselage) eastbound on a lowloader on the A14 at Newmarket.
