RIP – Wing Commander John Hatton

Just heard that this gent passed away peacefully in his sleep last night.
I knew John, but not that well. My Dad however, did know John very well and chatted to him at length about his service career. During WWII, I believe he flew Beauforts & Beaufighters including a big raid from I think RAF North Coates, which by all accounts was quite chaotic!
Post war, John ended up flying Shackletons from RAF St Mawgan ( & possibly St Eval) & I believe was a Sqn commander – the only reference I can find is 201 Sqn, so maybe that was where he eventually became OC. I can’t remember if John won the AFC/DFC or not, so apologies in advance for this.
