Ben
Your right about it being a Lincoln Sport, this picture shows one with a Solsmon! engine which I am sure should read Salmson 9 cylinder. http://forums.aopa.org/gallery/displayimage.php?album=2&pos=8995

I believe the plane is a Lincoln Sport that was part of the late Denny Trone collection at Brodhead. He was sadly killed several years ago and his collection sold off. He had many early engines that were sold via the Internet and I suspect this is where the picture was lifted from.
I have corresponded with your scammer about another OX5 he was selling on eBay (also another photo from the same source)and gave up when of course it was not possible to inspect it. He could not talk on the phone as ‘he had been operated on maxillary, has braces in his mouth and can only talk but a few words’ !
I was recently the high bidder on a beech 18 prop on eBay in newcastle. The seller offered low cost shipping, but amazingly had also been operated on maxillary and could not talk either !
I have an address for him which the postcode is actually a shopping centre and a mobile number which always goes to voicemail. Every now and again I amuse myself with an extremely abusive message to him!
Sorry to hear he actually succeeded in scamming you. I guess it seems obvious now that you should never hand over funds without the goods. His ads are always very good but always a bit too good to be true. A Curtiss OX5 is always going to be 8k plus. Similarly an overhauled Beech 18 prop will always be 6k+ and not £850!
If I can be of help feel free to email me but not sure that I can.

Might help if the photo was big enough to see anything.
Agree, a larger image would make it easier to see what is there, apart for a very hefty engine crank case…!!!

Not sure that there is any aviation activity at Fraserburgh nowadays though I may be wrong. It may be Peterhead however. I have a vague memory that a homebuilt biplane was started/stored in that area some years ago. Sorry can’t remember type.
