Gp Capt Charles Percy Pickard

Hi all

Having read the thread re the Amiens Raid Anniversary it took me back some years when I did some research in the local papers during the War. It transpires that Charles Pickard – start of “Target for Tonight” – presented our town with the Wings for Victory plaque in recognition of the town contributing £12000 towards two Spitfires. Needless to say the presentation ceremony on the balcony of the Town hall was a massively attended event by the town.

Has there ever been a biography written on Gp Capt Pickard and if not where is the next best written narrative please.

many thanks

An excellent read and you should be able to get it from your library. Part of the last paragraph of the book made the hairs on my neck stand up – “Ming”

Thanks for the PDF link Denis, I will read this when time allows.

The works are selling a dvd set called `Close Escapes` @ £4.99 which has a rather nice hour long documentary about the Amiens raid twinned with (another hour long) the Doolittle Raiders.
You also get two other discs. Quite a well narrated and interesting set.
While there check out the 5 disc set called `British Bombers`.
