Big apology, you are correct! 😮 What an achievement!

It is not the original, which is in the EAA Museum at Oshkosh. It is the replica built by a US-based group over the past 5 years that is going into the museum exhibition for the rest of this year.

This is NOT a replica, it is the original!

It is being put on static display in a special exhibition at a private Bugatti museum in California from next month until December.

Bummer! I say put the original on display in the museum and start flying the replica!

Wow. I knew, vaguely, of the intention to replicate the Bugatti 100P, but not that the project was so far advanced…and I’d never so much as heard of the Mullin Museum. Dang, I want to visit that place…

According to ‘Sport Aviation’, the aircraft was completed in October and should ‘fly in a couple of months’. No news yet then.

No, John Lawson. he designed the gearbox and he’s recently returned from the States after spending a month out there working on the project (all at his own cost)!!
By: Newforest - 13th January 2014 at 18:55
That might be Scotty Wilson? Anyway, first flight is anticipated in early 2014. The complex gearbox for the two engines has been a real headache, but hopefully these problems have been resolved by a U.K. company, S & J Engineering.
By: Rockhopper - 13th January 2014 at 15:23
A friend of mine is the Engineering Director for the project.

I think it’s beautiful! And look at the estimated speed!

Interesting; a remarkable machine. It seems that their planned first flight date has been passed some time ago though?
