Buccanneer Main Panel Parts, Instruments, Grip Wanted

After I purchased some Buccaneer instruments I´m currently interested in main instrument panel parts, indicators, gauges and control grip as well.
So if someone wants to get rid of them….
Kind regards,
Herbert

Buccaneer instrument display for sale

Hi friends
Since I´m about to change flat I´d like to reduce my collection.
So my Buccaneer instrument display together with grip is for sale.
If interested I´ll send more pictures and details, most of the instruments are “Buccaneer only”, some with history and quite rare.
Kind regards,
Herbert

Thanks Martyn
Yes, the Direction Indicator or however it´s called, the ASI and the RWR are from the navigator´s.
They don´t seem to appear often, so the substitute is welcome.
That´s the fun with collecting, you don´t know, what will happen. As example I once was very lucky getting an original Spitfire trim indicator, a flap valve and complete Blind Flying Panel for few Euros in Speyer´s Aerojumble.
The widow of a collector had no idea about them and the Luftwaffe collectors didn´t care “enemy´s stuff”. Their fault.
I sold them years ago to friends for their restorations. For a bargain, since the prices of them are getting more and more rediculous.
Kind regards,
Herbert

Hi Herbert,

Just for your info, the Nav (compass) display you have there is the type that is situated in the rear Navigators position but it looks the part all the same. I had one for a time in my Lightning cockpit before the correct one eventually materialised. You have done well obtaining the instruments you have so far and in such a short period of time but, finding the grip that quickly was brilliant, not many appear on e-bay that was an excellent buy, well done! Cross your fingers for an instrument crate mate and good luck with the project.

Regards,

Martyn

Since the Bucc project has to share my room´s space with Javelin, Fiat G.91 panel and my submarine parts collection, no garage or garden available, I would be more than happy if I might be able to get together the main panels.
Kind regards,
Herbert

That’s a great start! Just how much of the cockpit are you hoping to build?

Starter Kit

And here´s my current “panel”.
I know there are navigator´s instruments included, but I´m happy about this quite nice starter kit.
The horizon is actually from XW530, a gulf war veteran, the bearing indicator (radar warning reciever) from XV163.
Cheers,
Herbert

There were a lot of right hand panels knocking around a few years ago, I too started a project but getting the main instrument crate was hopeless, every time I got wind of a Buccaneer that was to be scrapped I got messed about. So I got rid of it all, stupidly later on I got a Lightning instrument crate !, I would still love a complete Buccaneer set up.

Thanks again, another big help from this great forum and their members.
ASI and bearing indicator, I guess it´s a kind of Radar Warning Reciever, are from the navigator´s panel, I might consider them, too.
The other parts I have already.
I´d like to collect Bucc as a long-term project, like the style of the Bucc/Lightning instruments, quite different from the predecessor´s.
Now with the grip, it makes much more sense.
Kind regards,
Herbert

Thanks Tony, happy that I´ve got it.
Seems, everything regarding Buccaneer instrument panel parts seem to be quite rare, as example haven´t seen the interesting ASI and NAV indicator at the market before.
Kind regards,
Herbert

I assembled a Buccaneer panel some 8 years back (since sold), even then the pieces were quite difficult to get hold of. I seem to remember that there was some commonality with Lightning instrumentation therefore some of the items were sought after by different collectors making the prices quite competitive. Still with these difficulties acquiring items made it even more rewarding. I found that the most difficult item to source was the instrument crate which housed the square compass, artificial horizon and ASI etc. Never did manage to acquire this in the end. The small MK27 altimeter was also hard to acquire as it also appealed to many micro lite pilots due to its size (I also believe the Gnat panels had these) I have long since sold my panel collection, did have about 30 odd different panels from the RAF and RN but storage space became an issue. I Just have a Supermarine Attacker panel left. I wish you luck in gathering the pieces , I may have some drawings of the cockpit and instrument layouts of the Bucc both front and back if interested. PM me your address if you need a copy.
