Some background details about Derek here ;

I first met Derek in 1974-5 when I joined what was then the North East Vintage and Veteran Aircraft Collection at Usworth Airfield , also as it was then ! Over the years he amassed a huge collection of aviation artefacts and together with Jim Rutland was a leading light in the early years of aviation archaeology particularly in the Cheviot and Pennine areas .

A true gent and sadly missed but his legacy lives on within Bamburgh Castle and it is well worth a visit should you ever be in Northumberland .
