dark light

Google Glasses WW1

Just received this part which was reputed to come from a U-boat – but looks very similar to one used on the Scheinwerfer Blink 17 – an early version of a head mounted communication device.

Apparently used to communicate with aircraft in morse code – from the ground.

Attached is an image of it alongside the Blink 16 monocular also made by Carl Zeiss.

The picture of it in use and details are shown on this interesting website.

The pointy bit in the middle is a glass bead that transferred light into the sight so that the user could see the bead of light.
