The VAM’s Mosquito restoration is progressing nicely, with a first flight anticipated at some point in the new year – photographs courtesy of VAM below, with an update on the current developments.
It’ll be great to have another airworthy Mossie, particularly a bomber variant!

Hi
or is it easier/cheaper to maintain a gloss finish rather than matt finish aircraft
cheers
jerry
Lots easier to keep clean, and certainly better able to protect wooden structure than matt, especially against moisture and grease.

I like the gloss, reminds me of 70s-80s BBMF Spits.

If the Matt finish is anything like satin / matt paint found on cars, keeping it clean is a royal PITA.
There are plenty of authentic looking Mosquitoes in museums all over the world, it’s an acceptable compromise IMO.

I like the gloss, it highlights the shapes more.

Why have they painted it like that?? Gloss camouflage just looks so wrong. It was crying out to be painted in its Spartan colours, or a more authentic matt/eggshell finish. Eurgh!

It was looking lovely until they painted it!

Another beautiful looking example of Mossie majesty.
Thanks for posting that link
I’d better get to the Americas [if only] , soon as to see the only flying examples.
