Yes brilliant series as I remember. Each episode ended with a twist. Torturous weeks wait to see what happened next. Mega expensive to make. That’s the problem now with older air frames. I will be getting the DVD. Great idea thanks.

Its such a shame so much time has gone by since that series, Roy Marsden is looking bloody old these days, But if your up for it count me in, Nice to know that ‘vera ‘ is still with us and still operated by Aces High.Even more of a shame was that throughout the late eighties and early nineties when another series was still very much possible Air Atlantique were sitting on a fair number of Daks, Sixes and i believe they had a Bristol Freighter on the books too?? all tantalisingly available for filming, but sadly Mr Greatorex wasnt playing ball and as you say money was short too. The series is on general release on DVD now so you can all enjoy the ups and downs of Mr Ruskin and his happy band.A fabulous series and well researched too.I still love Ruskins rapid departure under gunfire after ferrying jewish illegals, Fingernail biting stuff!!

how about Ruskin Air Services ? Seems a good name to use 😀

Why not indeed. If I remember buying the fuel for the constellation was the problem last time. This time we can apply for a pay day loan to fuel the Hercs to get started. 😀

Naaa you want something credible :p

Problem selling them is they were the special forces versions with a lot of bits and bobs that the UK won’t want selling on, cost of demodding them may hinder their sale.

This has been mentioned before but some of these stored C-130s have excellent war records and it is a crying shame that one has been alocated to the IWM at Duxford from a quick reference to “Falklands Air War” XV196 one of the first aircraft used in the Falklands, fitted with extra long range fuel tanks it dropped supplies and special forces personnel to Task Force ships on route to South Atlantic in unrefuelled 18 hour missions. XV200 was the first C-130 fitted with an air refuelling probe and flew missions in excess of 6300mile and 24hours. Aircrew recieved medals flying his aircraft and nothing is being done to preserve it. Shamefull. I am sure some of these aircraft will have seen action in both Gulf wars and Afgan conflicts

Thanks for the link. Amazing a Herc in the hanger at Colerne use to look huge. These look tiny in that huge hanger. Sadly they may meet the same fate as the Lancs did at the end of the war. Anyone here up for starting an Air cargo company? 😀
