Moorabbin Air Museum, Australia – new management and more

Hi everyone

Recently there have been some changes at the Museum, with a new board elected including myself as Secretary and respected restorer Ashley Briggs as Chairman. The previous chairman had a tenure of 13 years, and we wish him all the best and hope he enjoys some well earned rest ! The outgoing Secretary is Mark Pilkington and I also thank him for his excellent service over the last seven years. Mark is staying on as a Councillor which is great as his knowledge and experience is invaluable.

No denying it, we have our work cut out for us, and a lot will need to be done. But we are ready for the challenge and rolling up our sleeves to get to work.

There will be a new website in the new year – patience required on that as I have to do a pretty massive overhaul and am testing other exciting things to accompany that.

But in the meantime, for those that cannot get there due to distance etc, we have set up a new Facebook page for those on social media etc. Plenty of pics including some excellent historical shots of aircraft and past staff.

It’s here – https://www.facebook.com/moorabbinairmuseum

Enjoy and thanks for all the support, it’s greatly appreciated

Regards

Ewan McArthur
Secretary

Thanks for the support everyone 🙂 Laurence, I have put those pics of yours into the photos by others album as well, love seeing shots that show different perspectives etc.

As to the Lincoln, it’s still in storage, aside from a couple of parts visible. I have not even seen the main parts myself. There are numerous shipping containers full of parts and god knows what – probably past members – which will require a thorough audit of and then we can work out a way forward from there. Transition from one Council to another is always a busy time, and especially when the last major Council change was back in 2000 !!

Congratulations on the new Facebook page. I have just uploaded a set of photos to it that I took at the Moorabbin collection in 1987.

Four years since I was last there, but thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Any progress on the former Southend Lincoln?
