Hurricane Mk XII 5481 has been sold by platinum fighters.
Any idea who has bought this?

Hi All,
Michael is MaxAlpha associated with Hanger10 as I noticed on Meier Motors Facebook they have ties with Hanger10 and they are collecting German aircraft are they not ?Geoff.
Geoff, AFAIK MaxAlpha is a seperate company, but with involvement (shares?) of one of the Meiers. AFAIK neither MaxAlpha nor MeierMotors are directly (financially or otherwise) involved with Hangar 10. However Hangar 10 has been and is a longtime customer of MeierMotors, several (I believe most if not all) of their planes were restored and maintenanced by MeierMotors. And the son of the owner of Hangar 10 did his apprenticeship at MeierMotors. It might be, that the purchase of some of the planes were brokered by MeierMotors or MaxAlpha, but that is purely speculative as I have no information about it. And I believe they have friendly personal ties as well. And Hangar 10 does not collect German aircraft, they collect British, American, Russian and German aircraft (Warbirds). Though it is off topic to this thread, to get an impression what they do, have a look here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hangar10/274625062665594 (FB) or here: http://www.hangar10.de/en/ (Homepage).

Why should they? They do restorations and maintenance work, they do not collect planes themselves, nor do they have a museum. They buy and sell as well, yes, but I do not think this one would fit in. MaxAlpha (in some way associated? to MeierMotors) does have and operate own planes, but they do buy and sell them as well, I do not think they collect them per se. The market for high priced warbirds seems to be a little narrow at the moment, or at least so it seems to me. Or those who can afford one simply wait until the right one hits the market, not buying “Ersatz” if they want a special one?

The word here in Canada is that the Hurricane is on the move to a new owner in Australia

Looks like Hangar 10 have purchased another Bf-109, G-6 (Werknummer 440738) currently in Austria – https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=419400364854729&set=pb.274625062665594.-2207520000.1385312424.&type=3&src=https%3A%2F%2Ffbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-ash3%2F1402128_419400364854729_1530282993_o.jpg&smallsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fscontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net%2Fhphotos-ash3%2F1454689_419400364854729_1530282993_n.jpg&size=1280%2C960

Oh yeah, I remember seeing that post now. Stunning work.
Hope ‘MVS is up and about again soon, too.

Weren’t the owners of the Hispano Buchon D-FMVS selling her because they were after a real ‘109? Or did I imagine that?
……..
No Daren, you were not imagining that. AFAIK they did buy the Bf 109 E-4 1983 project in Britain, sans wings. It is the one mentioned by Mark12 in the 6. post in this thread: http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?125261-109E-Projects-current-status&highlight=urrent+Bf+109+E+projects
The Buchon was for sale even some time before the taxying mishap resulting in quite some damage due to ground contact of the (metal) prop. One more reason to prefer wood / composite ones Iยดd think….

Anyway, I hope the Hurricane has found a good home, wherever she ends up.

……….See also that the me109 has been reduced quite significantly a few months ago. I wonder if the Meier guys have their eye on that one??
