Help with Rudder pedal adjustment

Hi all.
Can anyone please tell me how the rudder pedal adjuster on a mk 1/2 spitfire worked?
I have a GA drawing, 30033/sht.3, and can see how the inner threaded tube is connected to the adjuster wheel but I can’t see, when the wheel is turned clockwise, what stops the inner thread, connected to the wheel, just turning down into the outer threaded tube? Can anyone please help?

Regards and thanks for any advise.

Tony. That would be great. It’s all static use. If you could email or pm me with cost etc.

Good luck making a starwheel with plate and a drill press!!!!! They were not made that way and are ‘substantial’
I have two crash ones which I moulded in resin for an ally casting to be made. Sold last pair on Ebay last week (they were from a crash one so a bit distorted). I could do you a pair of resin ones to have cast – ok for static?

QldSpitty.

Oh no! Dead laptops are a real pain. Hope you get it sorted soon. Thanks for your advise. I could have a go at making one but I have not seen one for real so I don’t know thickness of wheel or hole diameter.. But, maybe someone on here does!

No idea but did work a design in 3D..Which is on my dead laptop :(..Some aluminium plate and a drill press will make one.Off memory the starwheel is connected to the collar which turns the outer tubee.

Oldgit158.
Thanks very much for photo. Much appreciated.

Rocketeer.
Thanks very much Tony. I think, on the lower tube in photo, I can see the collar that The Beech is telling me about. Can you tell me if yours is off a early or late mk? I was wondering if the end of the tube on a early mk, was round or square?
Any idea who, if anyone, makes the star wheels?

Rocketeer.
Hi Tony. Thanks for your reply. If you posted a photo I can’t see it!
I can see that the collar behind the star wheel would keep the wheel in the same place when turned anti clockwise but I can’t see how the wheel is held in the same place when the wheel is turned clockwise? It just looks to me that it would just turn into the outer tube!

The Beach.
That should just about answer my question. Thanks very much for your help. I’m glad it’s something you can’t see on drawing because I was beginning to think I was being thick or stupid or both!

just fwd of the screw section ( you cant see it ) is a collar riveted to the inner steel tube this stops the screwed section coming to far fwd

Not sure I understand what you mean. The phot shows my tatty set. The starwheel turns the screw on the one tube and the coarse thread moves the pedal.
