It’s movie time again..
We’re set mid 60’s and we’re looking to dress the deck of a British aircraft carrier with some static airframes. The “carrier” is being built at the studio (part real / part CGI) so:
– Something period.
– Something road transportable.
– Ideally something in good enough condition not to require painting.
Is there a museum out there with something suitable and would like a bit of winter revenue? Im guessing we’d need it for a week starting 14th Nov.
No no, we’re not going to blow it up before anyone asks!
Any bright ideas?

Sea Venom at Dux…. Doh !!! they sold it !!!!!!
Surely filming at the museum locations, with blue screen ect would be better than dragging aircraft to the film location ? As already meantioned Newark and Bruntingthorpe would appear to have suitable exhibits

My thinking too, nice Wessex 5, synonymous with any 60’s shipborne Carrier operations, they would all have at least one
Already have a rather lovely Wessex in, would just like something fixed wing to compliment the choppers. Seahawk would work well. I know the Dunsfold, Gatwick and FAA ones..
Thanks Guys!

I don’t think its realistic for the FAAM to be moving aircraft out with twelve days notice for a film shoot. I would have thought filming at Bruntingthorpe with live Buccaneers would have been considered a long time ago!

having just been to the FAA museum today for the first time in 20 yrs or so( even tho i work next door) what about them, or their reserve collection?

Plenty of Wessex around, and they are fairly transportable…

Complete ‘period’ airframes may be a little large for a 10 day move – where’s the studio?

This wouldn’t be for the *cough* Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie by any chance…

BDAC has a wasp helicopter of the right time, Royal Navy, complete. We have a SHAR too, but prob a bit new. Have cockpit sections including a Sea Vixen, Scimitar and Sea Hawk of correct age…..
