Heads Up – Spitfire in a Bottle £1

Once again Sainsburys is selling Spitfire Ale at half price, £1 a bottle. Time to volunteer to do the week end shopping.

Yes, one of the downsides of Duxford is that you can drink Spitfire or, well, Spitfire………not the finest ale.

Now Denis, Adnams don’t brew an aircraft named ale do they?

.. and there goes my theory that Adnams ‘Broadside’ was named after the Blackburn Beverley 🙂

I have to concur with Bruce, Shepherd Neame has never been my favourite and do not like Spitfire. But Thwaites Lancaster Bomber is a lovely drop of ale in my opinion.

Arkells of Swindon brew Hurricane.
They also do an occasional one called Moonlight. First brewed in 2003 to mark the 80th birthday of one of the Arkell family who flew Lysanders into France and the Low Countries in WW2.
Had both, very nice they are too 🙂

Had some the other day – revolting stuff.

However, I had a pint of Hawker Hurricane in the local last night, and it was really rather good! Don’t know the brewer offhand.
