Yesterday I had the good fortune to be shown around the Heritage centreat Scampton. Thanks Dave, memorable!
On entering the hanger reception area there is a large, at about seven feet long it is large, model Lancaster fuse. It is sectioned to reveal the construction, crew postions, and all internal kit in a very detailed way.
I asked Dave who built it and when? This is the big question, apparently when there was some museum stuff stored at Cardington a guy turned up in his car left the model and was gone!!!!!
Who was he? He deserves a medal it is a stunning tribute to the Lanc!!
Now over to the people who in all probability know.
Happy landings.
