…seventy years ago many many men of the 100th BG would be waking from their last sleep in the cold and draughty tin huts of wartime England.
At dawn, the group would dispatch 14 B-17’s from the flatlands of the Waveney Valley to hit targets in Munster, Germany.
At day’s end, a lone B-17 would struggle back to Thorpe Abbotts, piloted by Lt Robert Rosenthal from Brooklyn, New York to report to the CO of the total destruction of the rest of the unit. Thus the legend of the Bloody 100th came into being.
