Ok, not much to go on with these two bits and no serial numbers.
Came from an area where a Hurricane is know to have come down, my experience says they look like aircraft crash parts due to the way the metal is torn and fractured, but does can anyone I.D. Those figure of 8 type clips or springs that sit under the nut head as aircraft?
That would I.D. it for sure, it can only be Hurricane.
Thank you!

If it’s spinner then the figure 8 things aren’t a clue to Hurricane, as the spinners were made by subcontractors to their own proprietary design with no real reference to the manufacturing techniques of the aircraft manufacturer. Best looking for Rotol or De Havilland sources, or their subcontractors, Joseph Sankey and Constant Speed Airscrews Ltd / VDM

You Could be on to something there Bruce!
Having looked at a backplate picture from the Canadian Hurricane restoration, the remains of the larger round cut out next to the bolt holes with the turned lip on the egde do look the same.
Anyone got a backplate or picture to check against?
Ant.
