I was looking after the site where a B17 crashed in August 1944 and probably I found it but I am not sure. On the nuts of the part as pictured below I found a stamp with A N . This part could be from one of the engines. Could lead this part me to the crashsite of a B17 or wishfull thinking?? In the surrounding were I found this part, I found very small debris of a wing or fuselage and lots of .50 mainly exploded cardridges. I know it is not much but can someone confirm that I have found a crashsite of a B17??

American clips on it

It certainly looks like an american bulkhead fitting, but in fairness could have come from anything manufactured on that side of the pond.

Why the mystery as to the location ? so little to go on. Happens all the time on this forum, give more information to expect an answer . Do you have a licence to dig ? probaby not .
