Does anyone have a definitive list for all the aircraft recovered by Jim Pierce?
I did a quick search and discovered how bad that facility is on forum, so using Google I found http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?39294-Jim-Pearce-Russian-Warbirds from 2005. In it Foxwell says that Jim Pierce recovered “49 aircraft (& 1 Mircolight)” then goes on to list 48 of them!
1 Bell P-39
4 Curtiss P-40s (3xE 1xK & 1xN)
2 Focke-Wulf Fw189
2 Focke-Wulf Fw190 (1xA & 1xF)
7 Hawker Hurricanes
4 Hawker Typhoons
7 Ilyushin Il-2s
2 Junkers Ju87
1 Junkers Ju88
3 LAC EP9 Prospoctors
7 Messerschmitt Bf109s (3xE, 2xF & 1G)
3 Messerschmitt Bf110
1 Polikarpo Po-2
1 Pilatus P-2
2 Sako P-2 Krogujs
1 V.S. Spitfire
Can anyone give details of what these aircraft are and what has happened to them since they were recovered? Obviously not all were from Russia – ie the Prospectors and the Krogujs, and those Typhoons look very suspicious too – but lets concentrate on the good work Mr Pierce has done, rather than focus on the locations.

Jim spoke to one of our volunteers at Shoreham Airshow this year and he told our volunteer he had recovered nearly 300, maybe he has been Burma? Anyway he is still about on the warbird scene, but Russia is not what it was in the 90’s that’s for sure.

Yes it was John Pierce from Chirk who recovered DH88 Comet G-ACSP from Portugal and as you say is a different person to Jim.

“Does anyone have a definitive list for all the aircraft recovered by Jim Pierce?”
It would appear all of them, David.
What about remains of dH 88 Comet from Portugal (G-ACSS, if memory is not to rusty)? Actually in “restoration” to fly.

Jim was involved in aviation for quite a while -do you just want details of the Russian recoveries or all of the types he recovered from various locations.

Not really sure of your remit ! J
Not sure what you mean by remit – nothing underhand, nothing to conflict with the Official Secrets Act.
I was looking through an old Warbirds Directory from 1992 (or there abouts) and noticed several mentions of him with beasties like the FW189, Bf110, etc, and wondered what else he’d had in the 20 years since.
A helpful PM pointed me at http://www.warbirdfinders.co.uk/ which, as DaveR says, does list his recoveries but gives little away for most of their identities and whats happening to them now, even correcting the above list with its confusing mention of Typhoons.

I saw ‘4 Hawker Typhoons’ and thought how come I didn’t know about those!!! Looking at Jim’s website he lists all his recoveries and there are no Typhoons (unfortunately) but an amazing 24 Hurricanes.
Has Jim retired from Aircraft recovery now? moving every project on and closing the website indicates as such….don’t suppose anyone has a contact for him do they?

Not really sure of your remit ! Jim to my knowledge operated E.P 9’s and later traded one to the Museum of Army Flying. As for other ‘recoveries’ I believe he also brought Workmaster G-OJAS from France.
