Hi everyone
Been sorting out yet more boxes and came across a couple of things which I hope someone will recognise and hopefully go one step further and suggest aircraft they were fitted to 🙂
First up, this bit was recovered from the dam at Tocumwal (nearly 800 aircraft scrapped post war etc) I hadn’t thought anything of it until I took it over to the factory today where my projects reside and did a quick clean n blast across the piece to see if there were any numbers. Sure enough – 11A/3347 (it’s hrad to see the first 1 in the pic but I can see it ok). My limited understanding of Air Ministry numbers suggests this is something to do with armament (I have bomb release clips from the same location with 11A numbers) but what is it exactly? Its a fairly big connector as you can see it fits into my hand (and I’m 6ft 6 for reference:p )
And the second one has had me stumped for three years. I recovered it from my grandads shed back in 2010, and at the time was told by pretty much everyone that it was nothing to do with aircraft. I thought otherwise and today got to work blasting the surface for any telltale signs. Sure enough an AM and Kings Head Logo turned up on the side. I suspect this is for radio, cannot find any part number sadly though on one of the arm points it says :
PLUG 9 POINT
EF No. 3436
To be honest – stuffed if I know !!! The finish on the part was a very very dark olive colour though, wish I could spot a number. There is the faint remains of an inspection stamp – its a decent sized oval under the AM mark. There is also another number on the other side of the unit which says 3159. It’s suffered from the ravages of time even though its been in a shed basically since 1947.
Any help is appreciated as always !
Cheers
Ewan

Given the volume of Beaufort / Beaufighter bits out of the shed I would love to think so. My original hope was perhaps something from the abandoned CA-4 / CA-11 Woomera again of which numerous parts were in the shed, but knowing how much I love and collect Beau bits thats just as good for me !

Big plug is ground services plug ? Holes around the circumference allow finger holds to pull plug out rapidly, when parafrags are dropping. HT and LT stand for High Tension and Low Tension for ignition system – would there be additional booster coils in a ground services cart ? British Beaufighter ?
