A “new” An-2 recently arrived in Switzerland. SP-ASR (“Antonov Suisse Romande”) is based at Prangins (LSGP) – no jokes about the name again please!
It was formerly SP-ANV and was restored in Poland before flying to Prangins, arriving 7 September. It is already popular for local sightseeing, the latest being a “fondue” trip to Gruyère yesterday!
Although An-2s are not rare in Switzerland, it is a great sight to see this one plodding its way along the Lake Geneva coast.

After the Berlin wall came down, AN2’s could be bought almost by the bucketload for around 500 sterling depending on their time and condition and how desperate the country of origin was for foreign currency.
I couldn’t afford the oil burn never mind the fuel !
