Charlie – indeed so. And the fact it seems to of dived out of the fog before crashing probably means the village surviving is more down to pure luck than anything else.
DR – A pleasure, and glad it was of interest. If you ever get the chance to use your camera and take some pics of the area now it would be a welcome addition to the story, for me anyway.

The delivery of our village newsletter can be a bit hit and miss, and I know we missed an edition or two in the last couple of years – this must be one of them!
I didn’t know a thing about this – have followed the threads about the two F-111 incidents at Newmarket, but this one’s on my doorstep!

Good grief – what a vividly recalled account. And although a tragedy for the aircrew’s families, how incredibly fortunate that there was no civilian loss of life – it could have been appalling had it fallen on the village itself.
