That’s interesting to know – nice to have some reliable info. All the other references I had seen suggested both Lightning and Harrier were at Malmesbury.

Lightning XM173 is now in the care of Sir James Dyson and is located at the Dyson headquarters in Malmesbury.
Actually its stored in a Hangar at Kemble alongside his Harrier GR7, last seen by me on Monday.
The Wessex moved on from MSS holdings some time ago to another location in the area – from there it has now migrated to this Yard situated near the M55 motorway at Blackpool, as shown on the e-bay listing.

We used to use this Wessex as a training airframe at Stafford for heli refuels. It was located out the front of the tactical supply wing hq building.
There is a picture of it here in this thread in its old location.

My ‘Military Aircraft markings 2012’, Howard Curtis, Midland, has XT469 (8920M) Wessex HU.5 as “MSS Holdings, Kirkham, Lancs”. They also have/have had Lightning F.1A XM173/A ex Bentley Priory since 2/08 (good ‘spot’ that David Burke!).
‘Wrecks & Relics 23’ 2012, Ken Ellis, Midland, lists both XM173 and XT469 (ex Stafford) as on a private location, in the general area of Preston, Lancs in the premises of Submarine Manufacturing and Products Ltd.

Looks a bit like the former Bentley Priory machine (the Lightning)
