Oh, okay. I was under the impression they already knew. I guess that’s just speculation then?
You ‘guessed’ right H98. The story was always speculation so as to gain public, press and TV headlines. Something like that happened in Burma recently…..I think.
The RAFM Do 17 story just does not add up either in the way it is supposed to have ‘crash landed’ on the Goodwin sands, or from the muddled crew survivors story.
If their was any real solid identity on the airframe, we should have surely been shown it by now.
Try giving a false identity to the MOD recovery Dept and/or the CWGA, when you want to dig and recover anything !!

I’d wait until it’s confirmed what Do17Z it actually is first.

I would like to build a model of the Dornier and the Defiant that brought it down.
Does anyone know what colour scheme, markings these two aircraft wore?
Are there any surviving photo’s?

The documentary mentioned the extra funding needed, and who was primarily responsible for donating the money; no mention of Wargaming, not even at the end in the credits, makes you wonder what all the fuss was about removing photos of the recovery, supposidly at their behest when the recovery was achieved without significant input from them.

A very good insight into its release from its watery home of the past 73 years. It showed how well it had been planed and how well they had to bring it up on the hoof once the well planed bit had to be binned.
again a well done to all.

I thought it would show more of the story after it ‘landed’ “The engines will be recovered tomorrow.” so were they? and we never got to see the aircraft in the preserving rig at Cosford. Only half a documentary, please can we have the other half?
mmitch.

It was on last night at 00:30. Bit disappointed there was nothing new and not updated since it was raised. Would have been good to see how it looks after a month of cleaning

Looking forward to it. Interesting that mainstream BBC didn’t feature the Dornier in any documentary strand.

Oh woe is me, living in US. For some political reason BBC not streamed here.
BTW, Geoff, its Do-17 or DO-17, not D0 (number 0)-17
